Located in the center of the Istrian peninsula, over the years Pazin has been a center of administration, economy and culture. Therefore, it is rightly called the heart of Istria. His unique natural attractions have inspired many writers, so Pazin is often mentioned in literary works and his abbys under the castle inspired Jules Verne and allegedly Dante in writing a description of hell in the Divine Comedy.
