Požega is a city of long and rich culture and tradition, mentioned in history for the first time in 1227. Slavonia is known for being a very flat area, yet Požega is surrounded by several mountains. Namely: Psunj, Papuk, Krndija, Dilj and Požeška gora. Such terrain is suitable for planting vineyards, so wine lovers will have a lot of opportunities. This city has played an important role in medieval as well as in modern life of Slavonia. Today, Požega is an important cultural and economic centre and has a number of other cultural and educational institutions.
