NP Risnjak

Risnjak NP, founded in 1953., is located in Gorski kotar region, spreading on 63,5 sq km. It is an area of great biodiversity: forests cover more than 90% of to surface, encompassing more than 1,100 species of flora. Risnjak NP is also a home to all three large European carnivores - the wolf, the bear and the lynx. Within the boundaries of the Park there is the source of the Kupa River (321 masl), an imposing karst spring at least deep 154 m, and the peaks of Risnjak (1528) and Snježnik (1506) mountains, which offer panoramic views of the Dinaric forests and the Kvarner Bay.
